I care deeply about the future of Utah and I believe the Republican Party must play a significant role in fighting for truth and shared prosperity.

By connecting and building relationships, we can find solutions to our shared challenges. I’m a firm believer that it’s always possible to foster honesty and engagement without sacrificing our principles or abandoning truth.

Together, we can continue to ensure the state party remains strong and capable of keeping Utah red.

Meet Chairman
Rob Axson

Rob Axson is a conservative champion. With nearly 20 years of experience fighting for values that align with the Party Platform, Robert Axson is the seasoned leader we need to keep Utah red and lead the next chapter of conservatism.

Rob has spent more than a decade working for Senator Mike Lee. He started on Senator Lee’s first campaign and most recently ran Lee’s state office. Prior to being elected Chair, he assisted on more than 20 Republican campaigns across the state in a variety of leadership roles, including grassroots coordination, fundraising, candidate training, and strategic messaging. His unique skill set and proven track record have helped him guide Utah conservatives to victory in the toughest of races.

Elected Chairman of the Utah Republican Party in 2023, Rob guided the UTGOP during one of the most successful election cycles in recent history. In coordinated fashion with candidates and the grassroots, Rob and his leadership team raised nearly $3 million - a record amount that easily beats previous election cycles. As a result, Republicans control every legislative seat outside of Salt Lake County for the first time in decades. In another first, the Utah Republican Party engaged in the 2023 municipal elections, ensuring conservative candidates won non-partisan races. As Chair, Rob is committed to sustaining a serious statewide political organization to further the goals of conservatives in Utah. Gone are the days of debt and fear of bankruptcy!

An unwavering commitment to Republican values has led Rob to serve the Utah Republican Party as a county delegate, state delegate, precinct chair, and most recently, Utah GOP vice-chair. He’s also chaired several committees and played a critical role in improving, promoting, and supporting the caucus system. Rob’s dedication to the party is rooted in his desire to help Utah Republicans be more engaged in the political process. He believes that supporting candidates and partnering with other conservatives is the most effective way to navigate challenges and seize opportunities.

Rob is a graduate of the University of Utah, where he studied international politics with a focus in conflict resolution. He lives in Cottonwood Heights with his wife, Erin, and their four young children. The Axson’s love baseball, traveling, reading, art, and adventures in the great outdoors.

Having worked on Senator Mike Lee’s first campaign, I can attest there is no better system to evaluate and compare candidates than caucus-convention. During my first term, the UTGOP took the unprecedented step to provide direct cash contributions to our convention nominees - in addition to other resources that were made solely to their campaigns. This resulted in numerous primary election wins for the candidates delegates nominated, including Congressional, State School Board and the Utah Legislature.

For as long as I am chair, caucus and convention will continue to be the backbone of our party and the voice of our grassroots.

As Chair, I will keep pushing back against signature gathering on all fronts. I believe the upcoming election cycle provides ideal timing for the Utah Republican Party to assert our authority to nominate our preferred candidates. For the first time since SB54 was signed into law, there will be no statewide offices up for election this cycle. While the timing is right, how we do it matters. Unlike previous attempts to reverse SB54, we must be strategic and work with the Legislature to protect the most meaningful nominating process in the country -
our neighborhood delegates!

During my first term as Party Chair, our leadership team raised nearly $3 million - a UTGOP record for a single cycle. This was only possible because we worked together and stayed focused. If re-elected, I promise to raise even more so that conservative candidates will always have the funding they need. Our united efforts will ensure that we continue to build a strong financial foundation, empowering our candidates and promoting our values across the state. A strong and well funded party is what overcomes the strength of incumbency and out of state dollars, providing the vehicle for voters to hold candidates accountable.

Together, we can raise even more in the coming years!
